Facilities at detling
The special needs team at Detling will do their best to assist any adult, young person or child who has any type of special need! Please help us to help you by letting us know as far in advance as possible of any special requirements for yourself or a member of your family.
Special needs buddies are volunteers who act as 'one-to-one' helpers on a part time basis, e.g. accompanying children or adults to meetings or activities; assisting with mobility around the site. If you need a Special needs buddy please let our co-ordinator know as soon as possible. Whilst we will make every effort to provide a volunteer, this service is reliant on volunteer staffing.
Mobility
All venues are wheelchair accessible. Disabled parking, toilets and a shower/wc are available. It may be possible to provide a hoist to assist transfers in the shower/wc.
Deaf and Hearing Difficulties
Hearing Aid Loop - This will be operating in the main venue.
Sign Language - All main meetings will be signed. Arrangements for some of the seminars to be signed can be made directly with the signing team.
Visual Difficulties
Large print song books will be available in font size 24.
Learning Disabilities
The Link Up group will be running some seminars for people with learning disabilities. Children and young people are welcome to attend the standard programme activities for a younger age group than their actual age if this is more appropriate for them, as long as a parent, carer or Buddy is able to stay with them.
If you are disabled or require special needs assistance at Detling then please register by downloading and filling in the disabilities registration form
Showers
We have done our best to provide good facilities but please don't forget this is an agricultural showground rather than a camping site. There will be hot showers near the camping areas, however other sources of hot water are limited. There will be toilet rolls provided but it may be wise to bring a small supply of your own.
Food & Shopping
There will be a shop on site to provide for your basic food and other needs. There will be a Food Court situated in the John Hendry building for all delegates to use that will provide full meals, fast food and snacks if you don't want to cook. You will also find a small shop in the Detling village. |
